Crossed Linked Polyolefin [XLPO] Type-P cable means a cable having the crosslinked polyolefin insulation and the jacket is Arctic Neoprene or CSP. It meets the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE-1580 /45.8) standards, which is recommended practice for Marine cable use on shipboard and fixed & floating facilities for 300 volt to 35KV. It’s flame retardant, based on IEEE 1202 FT4 strict flame testing standard. Temperatures range for this cable is -55 deg. C to +100 deg. C. Its Neoprene or CSP jacket which allows for easy stripping at any temperature, as well as provides excellent resistance to oil, abrasion, moisture, sunlight and crush and impact forces. Type P is typically constructed with Irradiated / Electron Beam Cross-Linked Polyolefin insulation. Type P cable uses soft annealed stranded tinned copper as its conductor, with a polyester tape separator. The high strand count for the conductors also provides superior flexibility, which is crucial in many difficult applications. Type P cable is designed for power, control, signal and instrumentation projects for onshore drilling rigs, offshore rigs & production facilities and marine vessels. It is appropriate for installation in Non-Hazardous or Classified Hazardous Area Locations with armour & sheathed.
