On October 10, 2019, the Chinese Digital Economy Group of the BRICS Council (hereinafter referred to as the group) visited Epec. The group was led by Ms. MENG Shusen, general manager of China Unicom International. The group included China Service Trade Association, China Internet Development Foundation, Huawei, NetDragon Network, Beijing Rocky Technology, China General Technology, Qihoo 360 and many other members. Ms. WANG Ling, deputy director of the Sinopec Procurement Department, and Mr. WANG Zhigang, chief expert of e-commerce operations, organized the reception. A positive and in-depth discussion was conducted on how to better develop B2B e-commerce and make full use of the BRICS platform to promote the development of Epec.
Director WANG Ling expressed warm welcome to General Manager MENG Shusen and all the visiting members of the group. Through the multimedia exhibition, the group members have a comprehensive understanding of the development process, achievements, ideas and directions of the company. As one of the important members of the group, Epec has made positive contributions to the international trade of the BRICS. Group members introduced their basic situation, business model and common development concept of the BRIC platform. Combining with their respective areas of expertise, group members conducted in-depth discussions on supply chain, enterprise centralized procurement, diversified platform services and unification of industry standards, and explored the possibilities for future cooperation.
The meeting also summarized the group's achievements for the third quarter, and deployed the next quarter`s schedules including the upcoming BRICS Business Council 2019 Brazil Annual Meeting. The annual meeting will be held in Brasilia during November 12-14 this year.
Brief Introduction of the Digital Economy Group of the BRICS Council:
On March 27, 2018, in the mid-term meeting of the BRICS Business Council held in Shanghai, the BRICS Council collectively reviewed and approved the BRICS Digital Economy Development Initiative. The proposal of the new Digital Economy Group has increased the number of industrial working groups of the BRICS Business Council to nine. The Digital Economy Group aims to deepen the theoretical research, exchanges and cooperation in the digital economy of the five countries, and vigorously promote the concrete cooperation between the five countries on specific projects such as digital economic infrastructure, innovative governance and industry. China Unicom is the leader of the Chinese Digital Economy Group. At present, there are 16 members in the group, including 10 core members and 6 ordinary members. The group members cover many industries such as life service, e-commerce platform, information security, artificial intelligence, and investment consulting, etc.
